There was a fresh layer of snow on the ground this morning when I woke up. It seemed like a good morning to make apple dumplings. A friend of Hubby's had given us a box of apples. They are a cross variety that he grows himself. Daughter Stephanie recently gave me an easy recipe for apple dumplings. Ingredients: container crescent rolls, apples peeled and cored, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup orange juice, 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Peel and core apples. Put sugar, butter, orange juice, and cinnamon in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Add the vanilla.
Separate crescent rolls into 8 pieces of pastry. Grease pan (I use cooking spray) Wrap apple slices in individual crescent rolls and pour liquid mixture over it. Bake 30 minutes. Hubby and I tried them warm. Delicious!!!
I have been blessed with six daughters, 16 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. My husband, Johnny, who was my best friend and soulmate, passed away unexpectedly on December 14. Every other Sunday our large family gets together at our house and celebrate "Family Sunday." I retired two years ago but still work occasionally.
Our oldest daughter, Sherry Jo, was brutally murdered on November 25, 2007. An arrest has not been made.

During the past several years Johnny and I loved to travel. Our very favorite vacation spot was Cape Cod which we visited almost every year for the last 13 years. We also took our grandchildren on short trips in Pennsylvania among which were the Grand Cayon, Pennsylvania and Gettysburg.

Delighted to gaze at familiar loved features ... made new in you again Through you ... I'll see the future Through me ... you'll know the past In the present we'll love one another As long as these moments last ~~ Author Unknown ~~
To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; This is to have succeeded. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
