A Visit with Sue

Last week I visited my friend Sue at her shop, Sue's Floral Art. She has an array of Christmas decorations and some other lovely creations. Sue really is an artist and can make a beautiful arrangement in minutes. I had my grandchildren, Brooke and Wade, with me. She let each select an ornament.

I thought that maybe a visit to Sue's would inspire me to start working on decorations. I had wanted to do my tree in a Victorian theme. I just can't seem to get motivated this year. Last week our daughter, Stephanie, spent a day shopping with me and helped me select slippers and pajamas for the younger grandchildren. I always get each a game or toy also. In fact, usually I have almost all of my shopping done at this time of year. I also bake dozens and dozens of cookies. I haven't even thought about those yet (until just now). I hope that I see so many beautiful things in Colonial Williamsburg that I come home rejuvenated.

This lovely fried flower arrangement is exquisite. The light next to it enhances the colors in the arrangement.

I collect snowmen and especially liked these snowman ornaments.
These three angels are a contrast to the bright flowers. I would never have thought they'd look so nice next to each other. Notice the weathered door and primitive chair.
More angels. Also, notice the snowman ornaments.

Another set of angels in front of a primitive crate.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing a few of the lovely things at Sue's Floral Art.

This is getting just way to weird. I collect snowmen too. I have close to 400. I have angels in my curio cabinet. I hope baking helps you. I used to always go on a baking or cleaning binge when I got down. I need to clean so maybe I should get depressed. Just think of those wonderful Grandchildren and bake for them. As usual, I am thinking of you.

Oh my gosh! My mother has a huge collection of snowmen. One year she made a comment to me that she did not know what to do with the tree and I joked just put all the snowmen in the tree. Now she has a snowman tree each Christmas. I have a Victorian tree and it took me years to build it up. It is so full that I have to take two days to put it up. :)

Sue sounds so nice to have let your grandkids pick an ornament. The kindness of others softens the blows of life and I pray that helps you throughout this autumn season. I can promise things will get better! Hang in there and know we care!

Hugs ~
Heidi

I know what you mean about not being able to get motivated to decorate. We even had a couple of years with no tree bz no one would help me do things. This time of year is soooooo very busy at work and there is absolutely no time for other things that I want to do. I just figure that time will come later in life for me and until then if the kids want me to decorate more they have to help. Gave up with outdoor lights many years ago when we built this home. SIGH, I do miss it though.

P.S. Hope you came home inspired though and ready to go!

Hello Sweetie, My name is Mandie and I am Nancy's Granddaughter. My mother was Fawn, who was also brutally murdered in 1995. My gramma was telling your story when we were vacationing in Myrtle beach recently and said I should pay you a visit. Well, things around my house have been a bit hectic since we just moved...AGAIN...LOL. Anyways, I wanted to stop by, say hello and tell you that you and your family are in my prayers. I hope that the horrible person who did this is brought to justice soon. My family knows all to well what that is like & I just can't imagine not having that person at least behind bars for life. Ok this is getting long...just know you have people you have never met that care and pray for you! Have a wonderful weekend.

Sweetie, I am a friend of Nancy's and she told me about your daughter, after she shared with me about her own daughter. My heart truly goes out to you. My dad shot himself in l961 and I thought that was bad, but what you and Nancy have been through is horrible. I do hope that soon you are able to get some closure, not only for yourself, but so your daughter herself can rest in Heaven. You and your family have been on my prayer list and will remain until this is settled.

Blessings,
Barbara/MO

The shop looks like such a great place to visit and look at all the special things she has displayed. I just love this kind of place. I collect Santas and have them all over the house at Christmas.

Hi Sweetie! Nice little shop, I hope you have in mind what you'll decorate with this season. I have no idea and I really don't want to go overboard as in the past. I love the Halloween tour. It was really scary and Kristen is a very lovely young lady. I still taking a break but just visiting a few of my friends. Deb

Well, you have a lot of family to buy gifts for. I am just sending money to my son's family in Texas this year. I will send it early so that dil can buy gifts for the children and put them under the tree if she wants or just give them the money.
I always finish my shoping by November, also. I have a few to buy but I've narrowed my list quite a bit. All of my decorations are in Memphis. I have to make a trip. It is just too hard to sit here and try to think what I want and tell Honey Bear where to find it.
I have enough angels to do the whole tree. I have collected them over the years. Quite a few Santas and Snowmen too. I am giving away ornaments because I've decided to do a small tree from now on. I love decorating the mantle, porch, and eaves. I always have an open house but may have to skip it this year since I have no furniture.
Loved visitng the shop. My kind of store.

Sweetie,
I am a friend of Nancy and Heidi's and decided to leave you a comment. I am praying for you and your family and Sherry. No one should ever lose a child. I pray you will find both peace and justice and take this in the heartfelt way it was meant.
