Our Grandchildren - Segment 6

This is Tyler. He is the 17 year old son of Stephanie and Darren. Tyler is a junior in high school. He wants to join the service when he graduates. Tyler is 6'2" tall and very physically fit. He loves to hunt and go four-wheeling both with his dad and with Pap. He also helps his Pap around the house. Last week he dug a ditch for a pole for our TV satellite.
Tyler's car is his pride and joy. He works after school and on weekends at a local hardware store so he can pay his car insurance. He is shown here with his little brother who loves to ride in Tyler's car with him.

Tyler's favorite activity is skateboarding. I think that skate boarders take a bad rap. Many people are not aware that it is a sport that requires skill. Some schools in wealthier districts have incorporated skateboarding into the curriculum. Our small town has no place for skateboarders. A group of interested residents have formed a committee to develop a skate park in our small town. We know that it won't be easy - but it is a worthwhile project.

GM Sweetie, I'm thrilled to meet another part of your family. He is so handsome. They have done a good job raising this boy. You can tell he is responsible, by him getting a job to help with the car he loves so much. I know you're proud. :)

Hi Sweetie...I remember Tyler from some previous pics and I've wondered how the skateboard park for your town is coming along... I love the old-fashioned Christmas pictures (cards) on your sidebar too! Happy wk-end, ;-) Bo

Such a good looking boy and sounds like a very responsible one, too. I bet his younger brother loves hanging out with him and riding in that car. How nice to have a great brother to look up to.

I am a middle school teacher and I totally agree w/ you about the skateboarders. It is definitely an extreme sport requiring a person to be physically fit everywhere! And the perseverance to learn with the yucky bloody scrapes as they try new moves. In my town they converted 2 public tennis courts into a skate park. It keeps the kids off the sidewalks and away from the businesses and it encourages older kids to teach the younger.
My nephews are 13 and I am taking them to the extreme sports show as their Christmas gift.
