Total mayhem!!!

Alas my home is in complete pandemonium! After much thinking, I made the decision to have new floors installed in the dining and living rooms. The contractors said that they would move the large pieces as they were working. My daughters and grandchildren helped me move things. It was necessary to empty the curio cabinet, china cupboards, and move everything breakable and much of the furniture into the kitchen. I moved everything that was in the the closet to the spare bedroom. As a result almost every room of the house (except two bedrooms and the bathrooms) is in complete disarray.

These came out of a china cupboard.
Some of these were in my hutch.
The angels are from a curio cabinet.

This is the new flooring in the living room.

This is in the area of the dining room.

There were a few problems as the dining room is in the old section of our very old house and nothing is even. The living room was added recently. As soon as the contractors are done with the work, I am cleaning these rooms from top to bottom. Also, I am going to copy some of my blogger friends' ideas in the accessory decorating area. In the meantime, it's difficult to think straight among so much clutter.

That is going to look SO beautiful Sweetie! I hate that you have to move everything but at least you can clean it as you're putting it back. Glad you had the help you did though. That was very sweet of your daughters and grandchildren :)

I share your disarray. We are painting the hall, a sort of room that had one chair in it for furniture but somehow I have two rooms out of commission just with the stuff off the walls. But the new floor looks wonderful.

You are gonna love your floors, i'll bet. My daughter did this and she does like them a lot. We have carpet and tile.

Very exciting and well worth every minute of clutter! We are in need of refinishing our wood floors, but with 4 youngsters. . . . Thanks for stopping by to see my furniture remix. The unique seating areas are temporary until I can move some into my shop.

I plan to do the same thing before summer is over but I dread the mess and moving everything. I know I will be glad once it is done.Yours is beautiful. Maybe this will encourage me to get started soon.

How wonderful, Sweetie! You will love your new floors. We had hardwood installed in our kitchen and bathrooms several years ago to go along with the rest of the house. I love them. We only have carpet now in the family room and I am thinking of getting rid of that! The mess will soon be cleared and you will be admiring lovely new floors! Yea for you!

That reminds me of when I had my kitchen remodeled back in 1989. I had to pack everything -dishes, foods (dry stuff, ya know) spices, silverware -you name it -into boxes and old drawers, etc., and these were scattered about in the dining room and even the living room. Took a whole lot of doing to track down needed items when cooking a meal for sure!
I was absolutely drooling over the blue and white coffe and tea servers in the first picture -asa well as over the rest of the pics you posted too. It will all be well worth the mess, clutter and work when all is said, done and finished up!

Hi Sweetie,

I love your new floor!!! It is beautiful. We remodled our living room, dining room and kithcen last year. I know what it is like to have things out of place and all over the place. But the end result will be worth it. I will look forward to seeing it all finished.

Hi Sweetie
Well you are in a mess but isn't it exciting? It will look so lovely and then you'll be cleaning everything and you'll be ready for spring. Its not so much fun during work time though.

Hope you are keeping well...thinking about you..*hugs*

Sweetie I missed this post somehow. You will love your new floors. It's worth the pain! We did wood too and it's so much easier to take care of.

I have a question to ask you about the floors. I live in a very old Edwardian home with walls and floors that seem to have a mind of their own! How did the contractors deal with the old floors? I have been wanting to put in hardwood but have been a little uneasy about it thinking that it wouldn't turn out very well because this is such an old house.

BTW, your floors are GORGEOUS!

Oh I'm so jealous of that hard wood floor. It's just beautiful, you picked a very warm color. I can't wait to see it all done. I bet you can't either. Thanks for visiting my site it made my day. Your blog is beautiful and joyful. My condolances on the loss of your lovely daughter, and your husband. You have a nice looking family. Blessings Pearl
