Friends

My grandmother always told me that friends are very important. I have always recognized the importance of friends but especially appreciate them at this time in my life. Two friends of mine, Tom and Gail, invited me to dinner with them in State College where they reside. Daughter Sheila accompanied me.

Tom and Gail live in town houses across the street from each other. Both worked with me for years at the intermediate unit. Tom was Director for Curriculum and Professional Development. While in that position, he also worked with the Department of Education on statewide projects. Tom left the intermediate unit to become a superintendent of schools. He retired from that position. Gail was an Early Childhood Consultant. She is an expert in her field and has spent time in China working on their early childhood programs. She retired after I did. She currently evaluates early childhood programs across the United States. Daughter Sheila came with me. We met at Gail's house. Then Tom drove us to the Allen Street Grill where we had a wonderful meal.

We had a wonderful evening - friendship, conversation, and good food. It was so nice to see both and to catch up on their lives.

Thanks Tom and Gail for a wonderful evening!

Sweetie, I completely understand where you're coming from. I am so happy you had the chance to gather with your old friends to catch up and visit. I know the pain you're feeling and the emptiness. Friends are such a blessing, especially at a time such as this. And,what a wonderful gift for you! I know you'll enjoy trying out the recipes. Thank you for sharing your visit with us. God bless you Sweetie!

Good friends are like medicine for the soul!

I can relate to your new flooring. 2 years ago, we had the house recarpeted, every room except the kids bedrooms. It was pure chaos and I hated every minute of the mess! I am glad we did it but never want to do that ever again!

Hi Sweetie...Isn't it nice to get a chance to visit with old friends? I have one friend I've known since I was five! You share so much and it seems like you've not even been apart...the conversation just picks right up where you left off. I've been busy and have gotten behind. I need to visit some of your previous posts to get caught up. Have a great weekend...hugs...Debbie
