Vintage Pretties

In an effort to initiate decluttering and organizing, I have been sorting through plastic containers and boxes that I put away until "later." I went through a box of vintage linens and doilies that I had purchased at an auction last fall. These will all go in the "keep" pile. I love the fraying fabric and beautiful embroidered and crocheted hand crafted treasures.

This is a green and white rectangle vintage crocheted doilie. Granddaughter Payton made me a flower on a card in school. It is so pretty that I placed it on the doilies and took a picture.
This is a tea tablecloth. The flowers are hand embroidered and the tablecloth has pink trim.

This large vintage linen tablecloth has vivid printed flowers.
These are ecru crocheted lace doilies.

This is a large crocheted net lace doilie.

This hand embroidered scarf with the deer and lace trim would be nice for a boy's room.

This tablecloth is huge. I really like the blue trim.

This small assortment of handcrafted work is lovely.

Bonus! An Agricultural Almanac from 1966 was at the bottom of the box.

In an attempt to make my decluttering and organizing a more manageable task, I have decided to sort one box a day. I will let my daughters go through the things that I am not keeping before donating them to a thrift shop.

Good morning, Sweetie,
What a box full of lovely vintage things...I love auctions!!
The almanac is a fun thing, too.
I just cleaned and decluttered a closet and now I feel so good about it, I need to do two more.

Hi Sweetie...You have some wonderful things there! I love the thought of all the hand work that went into them. It really makes them special. That almanac was a real find! Isn't it funny, though, when they start calling stuff that you remember "vintage"? I have to laugh when I go to the antique shop and see stuff we had in our house when I was growing up. I'm going to start calling myself vintage...it sound so much better than old!! lol Have a great day...Debbie

What a good idea to do one box a day. That's not so overwhelming.

I love vintage linens. I just can't stay away when I see them in the thrifts and flea markets.
I have many from my grandmother, mom and mother-in-law, that they made themselves. Mom and MIL are both 85 years so you know these are special.

I have some dresser scarves that I embroidered and still have some to do. I just stopped doing them.
I have doilys made by my Mom and I treasure them but use them everyday.
Kristen, my Granddaughter now makes them and boy she is good at it.
You have wonderful things there.

Where did you say that thrift shop was??? Ha! Ha! You have a lot of lovely things. My neighbor who heads the quilter of York would love this stuff. She collects old doilies and things.

Good for you for sorting out things. Even if nothing leaves having things stored in an organized manner make life easier. I am working on creating a decorating closet where I will store items and then I can swap things in and out and keep my home decor fresh. I loved seeing all your treasures.
Have a Great Friday!

I love them all! back in my 20's I did a lot of crocheting. I made some that look very similar in pattern to many of yours!
I wonder where they all ended up...most of them went to my mom or sister's house....hmmm
have a great weekend!

Wow! That box was just filled with lovely vintage linens, wasn't it? :-) So many pretty things...I don't think I could choose a favorite. Payton's flower looks very sweet mixed in with those pretty aqua and white crocheted doilies. And how cute is the embroidered deer table runner?! I enjoyed seeing all of these vintage goodies today. :-)

Hi,
I enjoyed looked at your vintage linens. I also love them. I have some doilies and pillowcases that belonged to my grandmother and my husband's grandmother. They are so pretty, so much work went into making them. Thank you for sharing yours.

Thank you for stopping my blog, and leaving a sweet comment. Have a wonderful weekend!

Don't vintage things like this really just brighten a day! I also love decluttering and making space so I can enjoy my more favorite items. We don't have alot of storage so I can never keep too much. No attics in the newly build houses in Holland. Do you have lots of storage space?

Hugs ~

Hello Sweetie, I am also sorting out but I have not found anything as gorgeous as your lace and linens, your grandaughters flower card would make the perfect bookmark what a treasure, hugs, Kathy.

Isn't it amazing what we can find in boxes that we'd forgotten about?! I so love all the doilies and such, what a box full of treasures. At one of the auctions I go to, one time there was a box full of vintage linens like that and there were 2 ladies having a bidding war over that box...ended up at $125.00!!! I guess the winner really wanted it! lol xoxo
