Some Things That I Like

My favorite work of Auguste Rodin is The Kiss. He was the preeminent French sculptor of his time, and remains one of the few sculptors recognized outside the visual arts community.

This is the only figurine that I could find that is remotely similar to The Kiss. After I found a ceramic dealer that had the mold, my daughter made it for me. I initially displayed it in the living room. My mother was alive then and she told me that she thought the ceramic figurine was very vulgar. To please Mom, I moved it to the bedroom where it was out of sight.

These necklaces belonged to my paternal grandmother.

I have most of my porcelain doll collection packed away. These two dolls are very special to me. The tiny doll on the left was a gift from our deceased daughter, Sherry. The doll on the right is a gift from our fourth daughter, Jennifer. Both dolls are intricately made with lifelike faces. The small pillow was handmade and embroidered by our fifth daughter, Stephanie. The words that she embroidered are, "Be happy with what you have....Not unhappy with what you don't have."

I like the figurine. I suppose it might be all in your interpretation of the love between a man and woman.
