Blue Monday

Happy Blue Monday!!
On one of our shopping excursions, Daughter Sheila and I stopped at a thrift shop. It was my first visit there and I really enjoyed looking at the lovely treasures. I looked at several things and decided upon two small vases. I saw a larger one that I really liked but decided to keep within my small budget (I'd already blown it) and purchase these two.
This is vase has a small fluted rim.

This vase is similar but the fluted rim is larger.

You can really see the difference when you look at the vases side by side. I love the blue glass which is just translucent to look like rays of sunlight are bouncing off of it.

Daughter Sheila told me that since I was done shopping I could take Granddaughter Mallory and Grandson Benton to the van. The children were really glad to retreat to the van and so was I. When Sheila returned from the shop, she handed me a bag and told me to look inside. I thought that she had bought something for herself that she wanted me to see. I peeled off the layers of newspapers until I got to this beautiful vase. It was the larger vase that I had really liked. Daughter Sheila had bought me the vase as a present. When I offered to pay her for it, Daughter Sheila said, "Mom, I just wanted you to have it. Please let me give you something." Needless to say we were both thrilled. I, because, I had received a present and she, because, she had given one. What a lovely day we had!

Well I hate to sound greedy, but I think all three of those items are supposed to be mine. Please take good care of them until you wrap them and sent them to me, ok? ;-)

I loved reading the story about Shelia giving you the blue vase. It is harder to receive than give for me sometimes so I can understand you wanting to pay for it. Sometimes we give a gift by receiving gratefully.

WOW! Lucky You! Three vases, all gorgeous. Wish you would tell us where these shops you've been visiting are located though. Not that I figure on venturing over the mountain in the near future, but spring/summer will be back sooner than we realize and I might just be able to convince my daughter a trip down that way would be well worth our while. But I need to have some idea where to go, how to find these out-off-the-beaten track places first, ya know!

Hi:
Word must be out that you are doing a give away. You have the most wonderful daughters. The vase she gave you is really nice. I love the two smaller ones too. Very nice treasures you found, plus a good day with your daughter.
I pulled a name from a giving tree at McDonalds and I was shopping today for a 13 year old girl. I got everything she listed except pants. I still might find them.

Is that Depression glass? I can never tell. (Not my field of expertise obviously).

Whenever it was made, it's pretty.
