My paternal Grandmother, Ruth, was such an elegant lady. Gram was born in Denver, Colorado in 1891. Her family went from Denver, CO to Springfield, IL where she and her sister attended a private girls' school. Gram loved art. A print of the famous painting, Blue Boy by Thomas Gainsborough, hung in her foyer.
My Grandmother served tea and Petit Fours each afternoon. I have several of her cups, saucers, and dessert dishes in this pretty design. As some of the pieces are discolored, I hesitate to use them.
Gram served a variety of tea. Her favorite was Constant Comment.
Gram loved to burn candles. I recently found these votive holders when going through some of my mother's things. I think that they belonged to Gram.
Gram had vases of all colors and sizes. In the summer his pretty blue vase was filled with roses from her garden. Gram was such a special woman. I will share some of her unique story with you later.

These are some great blues from your grandmother. I love the china, but I'd hesitate to use it also. Paint might be lead. Constant Comment is my favorite tea, too!

Hi Sweetie
Isn't it special to have those lovely pieces that belong to your Gran? I know I would be careful using her dishes too especially if they are discolouring.
Thank you for this lovely Blue Monday post.
have a great evening

Hi Sweetie, Happy Blue Monday!! I love the blue vase. It's nice to find things that are from past relatives we treasure. The painting is really nice as well. The boy looks so dapper.

Hi
It's wonderful to have a part of our family that continues to give love from one hand to the next. You have a sweet blog.
Marie
Hi Sweetie, just stopping by to say hi, and that I hope you had a great day. "Talk" soon!
Petit fours every afternoon? Man I hope she wasn't actually making them every day! They're cool and all that, but how tedious!
Unless of course, you're a professional baker/pastry chef (which I am definitely not) in which case it's no big deal.
Love your dishes .You are so lucky to have them.
Your grandmother must have been a very elegant gracious gentlelady. Her blue things are so pretty!
Katherine
Loved seeing your grandmothers china and glass! So lovely, petite fours, I do love so, second time this week some has talked of them. I have not made them in years, I need too! They are so yummy! Wish we had a surplus store here, I saw where you got such a great deal on the baskets.
I believe your Gram was a woman ahead of her time, full of grace and a lot of class...
hugs
Sandi
Sweetie, it is so nice to have a piece of something from your Grandmother... especially "something" she loved! (LUCKY YOU)
