Happy Blue Monday

I bought this small bowl and pitcher at a thrift shop. I can't resist anything that is blue.
This plate belonged to my Grandmother. It was just a single plate in a box of odds and ends. I have seen other plates with windmills but this is unlike any of them. I cannot read the marking on it.

This is a serving plate that my Grandmother used frequently when she "entertained."

My daughter Michele crocheted this beautiful blue and white afghan for my birthday several years ago. She spent hours working on it. It keeps me toasty warm on these cold winter night.

Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ hosts Blue Monday. Each week there are more posts than the week before. There are so many wonderful blue posts. It's exciting to meet new blogger friends. Thanks Sally!

Good morning, Sweetie,
Your blues today are just lovely.
I collect the blue and white windmills...I have a hugh collection...some I have to keep in boxes as I have no place to show them. I just rotate them out. Have been collecting for over 40 years. Most of mine come from Germany.
Thanks for sharing yours with us today...oh and I love love that afagan your daughter made for you..
hugs, bj

You always have so many things that I'm afraid I'll forget to comment on something I really admire, and I really admire all you show! Your grandmother's serving plate is gorgeous--so understated. Michele spoiled you with that blue afghan. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

Happy Blue Monday Sweetie, all your blue pieces are so pretty . I especially like the plates that were your Grandmother's...I have a little windmill that I bought in Solvang, Ca. You would have a ball there...lots of blue pretties. I bet you have been enjoying your pretty afghan all these cold days. Hugs, Linda

Good Morning, Sweetie!

What sweet blueness you have for us today! Love your blue pitcher and bowl and that lovely afghan. I'm always in awe of handwork. My sister crochets, too, and I can barely sew a straight line... but I try! :-)

Happy Blue Monday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

I loved the photos of your plates.
The afghan is a real work of art by your daughter.
I also wanted to say the I truly enjoyed the earlier blog about the milkman. It brought back memories of my childhood and we had a milkman also and I can remember that we had a few broken bottles of milk on a very frigid morning.
I enjoy your blog so very much.
You do have a very beautiful family.
God Bless

My mom had made an afghan for herself exactly like the one your daughter made for you, even the same colours!! Love your blue plates and such a gorgeous little bowl & pitcher you found at the thrift shop. Isn't it amazing what people get rid of? Oh well, their loss, our gain:-) xoxo

Your opening picture says it all. What a beautiful family you have. Nothing to blue about there, but really your blue and white blanket looks to have been made with lots of love and your dishes are quite charming. I have some little blue and white windmill items above my stove, I love yours.
