Happy Blue Monday

We had a wonderful Sunday. All five of our daughters and their families were here for Family Sunday. Our granddaughter, Ashley, is expecting a baby girl any time. Daughter Stephanie made this quilt for Ashley. This beautiful quilt is for Ashley's and Husband Justin's bed. Stephanie is now working on a pink quilt for the new Baby Girl. I love the shades of blue in this quilt. I am thinking that I will try quilting. On my next trip to JoAnn Fabrics I am purchasing the tools to cut the squares. From watching my daughters working on quilts, I think that cutting the squares requires the most patience.

At last there are blue skies in Pennsylvania. Believe it or not, the sun was shining and there was a hint of spring in the air today. I took a mile walk and felt so energized. This is the view from my front porch.

Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ hosts Blue Monday. Now when I think of Monday it's with a smile on my face as I anxiously look forward to seeing so many beautiful shades of blue. Thanks Sally!

Hi Sweetie, It was a beautiful day here in PA today. I am hoping that spring is just around the corner.

That is another lovely quilt. My daughter is wanting a red and white quilt. I don't know if I could make one or not.

Blessings,
Cheryl

GM Sweetie! The quilt is beautiful, although I have to say I like the purples the best! What a beautiful view you have from your front porch. I do hope you have a nice comfy chair or porch swing there to sit a while and enjoy that view! Great post!

Hi, Sweetie,
I think you would enjoy making quilts with your kids. You should at least give it a try. Do they do all the quilting by machine? I have never tried doing it by hand...
Pretty blue post today...

What a lovely tradition...Family Sunday. When all the children (we have 10)were still at home, every day was family day. But, they grow up, and move away...breaks my heart some days, but I raised them, and now they have to raise theirs.
My husband lived in Boyertown for a little over a year, while working at a Cabot Plant. I got the chance to go visit several times. The landscape in the more rural areas nearby, was just beautiful...So different from where we lived then (central Florida) and where we are now ( In Louisiana).
Have a great week, AND thanks for putting in a word for my Percy! (Some of my kids are nuttier that others:)

beautiful blue skies your way..I hope the temps are higher than ours. Although we have the blue skies it isn't a warm enough day.

You should take up quilting especially if your daughter is there to help you out. The quilt is beautiful! What a lovely job she does. The recipients will love it!

have a lovely day

What a pretty quilt! I love quilts but I don't know if I can sew seams straight enough for them.

Cutting out is not my most favorite part of quilting, that's for sure! Check out my post today as they have a machine cutter that I'd truly love to have but can't justify spending the money for at this point in my life (if ever, LOL!). I find sewing to be quite relaxing and wish I could spend time doing it with my daughters, but maybe that time will come later! Love the view you have of the sky! It's very blue. OUrs is pretty white and gray as its snowing right now. That's okay though as we still need the moisture in the mountains.

The view from your front porch is wonderful. You can look right up toward heaven.
The quilt is just beautiful. You can certainly take up quilting with such a good teacher right there with you. I would be oh so lost if I didn't have my crafts.
Have a wonderful day.

Handmade quilts are so much more treasured than purchased quilts. I have a small baby quilt that my grandmother created for my first daughter many years ago. Grandma is gone now and I cherish that little quilt. Thanks for sharing.

There are no blue skies here in NE today. We are getting rain, can you believe that? Rain in Feb makes you wonder what is around the corner.
That is such a beautiful photo from your porch.
I must say that it is a small world as I read your Genealogy post. We have friends in Blue Hill and I am from IL.
God bless.

Sounds like a very good day. I know you would enjoy quilting once you get started. Cuttin is so much easier with the rotary cutter. And chain sewing of seems speeds up the process. I had already cut out most of the pieces for my sampler before I took the beginner's class and learned about rotary cutting. I cut templates for all those pieces. They still seem to be coming together well. I'll share the sqares again sometime. I did the Ohio Star last week and am putting together Card Tricks this week.

You don't happen to live in the Clearfield area do you? (Altoona's probably the closest town of any size at all... Closest airport I know of is the tiny one in DuBois). This looks an awful lot like the area my mother's family came from... but then again, in that part of PA it's hard for me to tell one mountain from another.

I wish I could cut a straight line. Then there's threading the needle by hand or on a sewing machine. I'll just have to buy quilts at craft fairs instead.
